NordiCHI’14 is hosted by the Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. The school was formed from the old University of Art and Design Helsinki when Aalto University was founded the year 2010. According to SAAB evaluation 2013, the school has an outstanding impact both nationally and internationally. The main responsibility of the NordiCHI’14 conference is at the Department of Design — a creative community of 800 students, teachers and researchers. The Finnish chapter of ACM Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction, or shortly SIGCHI Finland, promotes HCI research, teaching, and practice in Finland. The activities include seminars on various HCI topics, a master’s thesis competition, and a mailing list for information sharing among more than 400 list members.
